My Favourite Game

As a child I was definitely obsessed with playing video games of all sorts. From stealing my brothers playstation and playing that old Simpsons game and Bratz to getting a Nintendo for Christmas one year and playing anything from Mario bros, Bratz (common theme running here) to Nintendogs. Cut to the mid-pandemic summer of 2020, I was bored and had nothing better to do, so of course I decided to go out on a whim and purchase a second hand Nintendo Switch. I purchased the game "Animal Crossing - New Horizons" and needless to say I became obsessed.

Animal Crossing is a single or multiplayer life simulation game specifically developed for the Nintendo Switch and different versions of the game have been around for years. The point of the game is simple yet creative; you are the mayor of your own island which you have to build up into a town or village, gaining animal villagers along the way, whilst partaking in tasks and challenges along the way.

The game can be played in real time, meaning that you can choose your own time zone and hemisphere. As the game progresses you get to build your relationships with your villagers, having a group live at your island full time. Gaining skills, saving the island currency "Bells" to expand your home and village, and customising it to fit your own preferred aesthetic, there is a lot and so much more to do on your island.

I've enjoyed this game since I bought it last year and it can be addictive at times, but it is a great distraction to relax and wind down to after a stressful time. The soundtrack in the game is basically like a long playlist of chill music you can relax to. I highly recommend this game for everyone and anyone of all ages, it really is a universally loved Nintendo game, especially on the Switch console.
